Sensors & Instrumentation KTN (SIKTN)
The Sensors & Instrumentation KTN (SIKTN) is a network offering a central point of access for sensing information and assistance. It covers all aspects of sensing from the principles of measurement and novel sensor technologies to instrumentation, deployment and data analysis. Its mission is to improve UK sensing innovation by transferring knowledge to businesses and enabling them to access the best science and technology.
The KTN:
- Develops and supports the sensing supply chain for industry and connects companies to the best international research.
- Helps small companies exploit the potential of sensing and developers of novel sensor technologies to win funding, prepare innovations for market, raise their profile and meet important customers.
- Connects academics to industry helping them to secure funding, raise their profile and turn research into products. Some of the UK's leading universities have benefited from collaborations and industrial partnerships through the KTN. It supports spinout companies and provides assistance during the commercialisation of technology and creation of markets.
- Drives sensing innovation and advises on developments and opportunities in UK sensing. The Sensors & Instrumentation KTN gives specialist sensing networks access to the wider sensing community, enabling them to take issues and concerns to government, industry and academia.
The Sensors KTN is a broad network covering a range of technology and application areas, including food, water, gas and health industries.
Special Interest Groups (SIG) are designed for members of the community with a particular interest in a specific technical area. One such group is a Bio-sensing SIG which is open to individuals or organisations involved in all aspects of bio-sensing technologies. A series of on-line events are run to explore new technology areas and advancements in bio-sensing.
