University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust

UH Bristol LogoUnited Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust (UBHT) achieved Foundation Trust status in June 2008 to become University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. With eight hospitals in the centre and south of Bristol, University Hospitals Bristol (UH Bristol) is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country.

As a specialist teaching Trust, UH Bristol has strong links with the University of the West of England, the University of Bristol and several other higher education institutions in this country and abroad making UH Bristol the largest centre for medical training in the South West.

UH Bristol's clinical priorities are in cancer care, children's services, cardiac disease and acute services; therefore much of the research activity is focused in these areas. Last year around 600 research studies took place in the Trust, leading to the publication of over 500 papers in prestigious journals. In addition, staff at UH Bristol have developed leading edge services such as cardiac surgery and bone marrow transplantation that have built an international reputation and are in demand by patients from across the country.
